Managing Subscribers

Each repository in Abstractions has its own subscriber list. You control who receives newsletters on a per-repository basis — workspace members, external addresses, or both.

How recipients work

Abstractions supports two recipient types per repository:

  1. Workspace members — all current members of your workspace, resolved at send time
  2. Custom email addresses — any external address you add explicitly

These can be used independently or together. A repository can send to workspace members only, custom addresses only, or both at once.

Workspace members

When Send to workspace members is enabled, every workspace member receives each newsletter at the address associated with their account.

This setting is per-repository. Enabling it on one repository doesn't affect others.

Note

Workspace members are resolved at send time, not at configuration time. If someone joins or leaves the workspace between sends, the next newsletter reflects the updated list automatically.

Custom email addresses

Custom addresses let you send newsletters to people who aren't workspace members — external stakeholders, customers, a mailing list address, or anyone else you want to keep in the loop.

Each address you add receives every newsletter sent from that repository.

Adding and removing recipients

Go to the repository Settings page to manage recipients:

To enable workspace members:

  1. Toggle Send to workspace members on

To add a custom email address:

  1. Type the address into the Additional recipients field
  2. Press Enter or click Add
  3. Repeat for each address you want to add
  4. Click Save

To remove a custom email address:

  1. Click the × next to the address in the recipients list
  2. Click Save

Changes take effect from the next send — they don't affect newsletters that have already been sent.

Warning

There's no unsubscribe flow for custom addresses. If a recipient asks to be removed, remove their address from the repository settings manually.

Troubleshooting

A workspace member didn't receive a newsletter — confirm that Send to workspace members is enabled for that repository and that the member's account email is correct.

A custom address didn't receive a newsletter — check for typos in the address list in repository settings. Also check that the address isn't blocking Abstractions emails at the inbox or spam-filter level.

You want to send a newsletter to a subset of workspace members — Abstractions doesn't support per-member filtering within a workspace. Use custom email addresses instead and leave Send to workspace members off.
